Mask Update

Dear Members of St James Trinity Lutheran,

This has been a challenging year to say the least. The council has tried to make worship time as safe as possible as we returned to worshipping in person. We were hoping to be past the risk of this pandemic when vaccines became available. But now we are dealing with a very contagious Delta variant of the virus. So the council had a special meeting last evening and looked at the increase in the number of people getting the Delta virus in our county. The CDC and Eau Claire County are asking that all people, vaccinated or not, wear masks indoors. We realize that children under 12 cannot be vaccinated as well as others and we want to make sure they are safe. By following the established Public Health guidelines we are sending a message to those around us that we care about their health and safety, whether they attend our church or not.

The council is asking that everyone over 5 wear masks starting this Sunday, August 29th. If you do not have one, we will provide them. At this time we will still be singing. We will also still be taking Holy Communion in our pews with the individual packets and offering plates will be at the doors.

This is a disappointment for all of us and we hope it will be for a short time. But we also hope that this will allow us to continue to worship in person. If anyone is not feeling well or not comfortable coming in person, our worship services will continue to be livestreamed on the church’s Facebook and YouTube channel. We will keep you informed when there will be changes. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation and ask for your continued prayers and support.

Two other brief informational items. Our bishop, Laurie Skow-Anderson will be our guest preacher this Sunday.

September 12th is God’s Work Our Hands. We will have outdoor worship at Keller Park- masks are optional. There will be a meal following worship. We will then have a service event of cleaning the gravestones at the cemetery. Please bring brushes, buckets, spray bottles, and ammonia, if you have them. We will provide some of these items as well. If there is bad weather we will worship in the church.

 In Christ’s love,

Church Council of SJTL
